International Women's Day (March 8) is a global day celebrating the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. In some places like China, Russia, Vietnam and Bulgaria, IWD is a national holiday. The first IWD was run in 1911. Next year is IWD Global Centenary 1911-2011.

IWD 2011 Planning Meeting

We invite you to join us to share information on what your organization is planning for the IWD 2011 as well as to explore ways that we can share activities.

When: Thursday September 30, 2010, 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Where: BCTF Board Room, 100 – 550 West 6th Avenue, Vancouver (Canada Line: Olympic Village stop). An organizer will be at the front door to let people in!

For those who are driving there is underground parking at Ash Street – and Organizer will be at the parking entrance.

Who: organizations and individuals in the Lower Mainland committed to advancing women’s equality. Refreshments and light snacks will be provided.

RSVP to Karin Johnson at karinj@oxfam.ca so we can ensure that there are enough refreshments and seating for all.  Please contact Karin if you are not able to make the meeting but are interested in collaborating on a future event and/or if your organization is planning an event for IWD 2011.
